Girijan Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Chikhaldara , Dist – Amravati was established in the year 1993 by Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, a registered and Government recognized only private premier Physical Education Institution in India. that has developed over the extensive area of 7 acres.
If we want to make our nation vibrant and if we expect everybody a part of this all-round development, then the opportunity for education should reach every nook and corner of it. Everyone irrespective of caste, creed, economic level and geographical condition should be able to have access to education, so that, they will be able to feel the national integration and will become part and work for the progress of nation. In this drive, we cannot even leave aside the Adivasis.(Tribal people)
Physical education is an integral part of education and it caters for the various needs of human beings. It teacher him about healthy living and provides with opportunity for leisure time activities, Hence, it brings people towards improvement in health and it will contribute for the dream of having a healthy nation. The college envisages to bring the Adivasis in to the main stream of life by providing them high quality education and through this an opportunity to get access to the modern world. Still Adivasis are facing so many hardships and problems like –illiteracy, lack of knowledge, superstition, age old bad primitive practices, witch craft, malnutritional poverty etc. If we want to get them into modern life, it is necessary to get rid of all these problems. This could be impossible, if we expect that everything will be done by the government. To succeed in the mission, N.G.O.s and Educational institutions should share the responsibility with complete dedication.
Shree H.V.P. Mandal had taken initiative in this direction and started extending all possible means to the Adivasis in the Melghat region. As one of the means, the Mandal started Girijan Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya at Chikhaldara plateau. This is a pleasant tourist place of Vidharbha, which has serene atmosphere with scenic beauty. This is situated 100 k.m. away from Amravati city and Amravati city is 10 k.m. away from Badnera Railway station, which is on Mumbai- Calcutta line. From Amravati to Chikhaldara state transport bus service is available.
Girijan Sharirik Sgikshan Mahavidyalaya, Chikhaldara is established by Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, Amravatiin the year 1993 . This college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati It is recognized by the Govt. of Maharashtra and National Council for Teacher Education WRC, Bhopal.
The college provides the one year degree course and three years degree course in physical education known as B.P.Ed. and B.P.E. respectively. This College is established in the tribal area which is known as Melghat “Satpuda Parvat ” at Chikhaldara’ a Hill Station of the region. This area is famous as Tribal area in Maharashtra. The college provides its services to the students of Tribal community specially for their services to educate their development of standard of living and to prepare the students in the educational field to render their community. Thus every year about 40 Tribal students of this area are taking advantage of these courses. About. 11 teachers including Tribal Teachers are employed 7 on adhoc and part time bases. And 9 non – teaching staffs are engaged in educating Tribal student. The college works with the zeal to upgrade the standard of living of Tribal this college promote awareness in the field of Education to create the interest in field of physical education and sports. Therefore college has its following mission, goals and objectives to render its services to Tribal community in educational field and the profession of physical education and sports.
